Doula - Birth Attending

Doula is a universal word now used to descibe a birth support person. A women who will be in contact with you through your pregnancy, labour and post natal debrief. This one to one continuity of care helps a pregnant women trust that her doula is on board with her experience in labour and journey into motherhood. Kerry has attended many births as an acupuncturist and doula for first time labours, twin births and second time labours in hospitals, birth suites and home births. Kerry trained in London with respected obstetrician Michel Odent and combines doula skills with her knowledge of acupuncture and acupressure methods. Each women has unique birthing wishes, Kerry will meet and discuss these with you prior to the birth. Birthing is intimate and primal, attracting the right women to support you is fundamental to your experience.

Before booking Kerry can meet you to see she right person to be your birth attendant. Once booked kerry will meet with you twice before your labour at your home or in clinic. These meetings are two hours and are an oppurtunity to get to know each other, discuss your pregancy, birth planning and wishes, emotions around labour and birth preparation. She will be available any time for phone conversation.

Kerry will be on call for two weeks before and after your due date. She will attend your labour from time agreed with you (usually in the early stages) until baby is delivered, breast feeding is established and mother and baby are settled. Within the week after birth Kerry will visit you at home for a debrief of the labour.

The birth Support Fee of $1000 is broken down into the following payments and paid through Fertle ground Health Group

$100 non refundable booking fee - paid at time of booking

$150 each visit - pre and post birth meetings (minimun 2) - Paid at each visit

$600 birth attendance - paid after the birth

Acupuncture and Acupressure. Kerry is trained to offer this during labour when and if needed and discussed at your ante natal visits. This service is included in your birth support fee.
