Treatments

Acupuncture points

Fine disposable needles made of surgical stainless steel are inserted into various points on the body stimulating the Qi and releasing blocks.  This has an effect of activating the body's own healing response.  The needle is tapped into a point and with slight movement of the needle the energy of that point is felt under the skin. In acupuncture language this sensation is called De Qi.  It varies between the points on the body and an individual's sensitivity.  The number of needles used depending on the person's symptoms, imbalances and suitable treatment.

Energy blocks

This refers to changes in the smooth flow of Qi (energy).  Causes of this can be internal or external and can then lead to pain.  Over use of muscles can lead to muscle tension or injury.  Extreme climate conditions like cold, wind or heat can enter ones body and cause blocks.  Also diet, to much food that is damp forming like dairy produce accumulates and impairs the smooth flow of Qi.

Vitality

Sometimes it is not blocks that need dispersing but vitality that needs stimulating.  Depletion of ones energy can occur easily when we are tired, overworked, stressed or not eating a balanced diet.  Most treatments require a combination of releasing blocks and increasing vitality.  To do this different points are chosen and a different needle technique is adopted.

How often should you come for treatment?

Kerry recommends you initially come for a course of treatments weekly or fortnightly to maximise healing.  Five is a good amount and will ultimately depend on the duration of your symptoms and severity of illness.  This will be discussed prior to or on your initial consultation.

After a course

You may continue to have acupuncture fortnightly, monthly, seasonally or just when feeling ill or imbalanced. The benefits of this are to maintain well being, boost your immune system and transit smoothly through life and climate changes.

One off treatments

Theses are also beneficial especially for pain, injury, stress and relaxation.
